{"id":238,"date":"2008-06-01T19:48:00","date_gmt":"2008-06-02T03:48:00","guid":{"rendered":"\/blogengine\/blog3\/post\/The-Fugue-arranged-for-String-Quartet"},"modified":"2020-08-17T08:28:05","modified_gmt":"2020-08-17T16:28:05","slug":"the-fugue-arranged-for-string-quartet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/prodigalsounds.com\/blog\/2008\/06\/01\/the-fugue-arranged-for-string-quartet\/","title":{"rendered":"The Fugue arranged for String Quartet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Thanks to the trial version of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.synful.com\/\">Synful Orchestra<\/a>, which I am currently evaluating, here is a version of the Fugue from The God Program (a work in progress), arranged for &#8220;String Quartet&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>There are 5 days remaining in my trial period and I&#8217;m still debating whether it is worth the money. Would it kick off a surge of musical inspiration? It might. That would be worth something.<\/p>\n<p>With careful tweaking of MIDI data, Synful Orchestra is capable of landing pretty much in the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Uncanny_valley\">uncanny valley<\/a> of emulated instruments. It&#8217;s good &#8211; but it is not going to fool anyone and they might back away from the sound, saying &#8220;something doesn&#8217;t quite sound right here but I&#8217;m not sure what&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Editor&#8217;s Note, August 2020<\/em><\/strong>: Alas, that version doesn&#8217;t seem to exist any more. I must have removed it during a clean-up.
